"There is another kind of composition more frequent in our language than perhaps in any other, from which arises to foreigners the greatest difficulty. We modify the signification of many words by a particle subjoined"
Samuel Johnson, Preface to the Dictionary of the English Language, 1755

Problems with Phrasal Verbs?
What is a Phrasal Verb?
A phrasal verb is composed by a simple verb and (i) an adverbial particle; (ii) a preposition or (iii) and adverbial particle and a preposition. The meaning of this "composition" is different from that of its separate parts. The phrasal verbs reflect the capacity of economy in language, and are widely used in English.

I'm a living sunset
Lightning in my bones
Push me to the edge
But my will is stone
Fools will be fools
And wise will be wise
But i will look this world
Straight in the eyes
What good is a man
Who won't take a stand
What good is a cynic
With no better plan
Reality is sharp
It cuts at me like a knife
Everyone i know
Is in the fight of their life
Take your face out of your hands
And clear your eyes
You have a right to your dreams
And don't be denied
I believe in a better way
